The UK Youth Climate Coalition is one of the most exciting, innovative, energised and passionate organisations campaigning on climate change in the UK and around the world. We are an organisation entirely made of young people (18-29) based in the UK who volunteer their time.
Those that have been involved with us have gone onto work for organisations like 350, Oxfam, WWF and 10:10; some have set up their own businesses and campaigns; or have become involved with climate change action internationally with other young people.

Finance Officer
We are currently recruiting for a Finance Officer role within the Operations team, the team, which is the glue that holds together everything we do.
It is also the most crucial role within the UKYCC, one that does take dedication, but not too much work. It is a tough role and you will be supported by the whole team and by the Trustee’s so that you can gain or improve the needed skills and knowledge.
What will be expected of you?
- Responsible for overseeing the finances of UKYCC in order to carry out our work effectively within a budget.
- Responsible for maintaining the main accounts.
- Collecting and filing receipts/expense payments/requisition forms etc..
- Create an annual budget for UKYCC based on fundraising and expenses.
- Able to train people from other projects who will be responsible for the finance.
- Works closely with fundraisers within teams and the fundraising officer to keep an overview of the finances
- Responsible for submitting end of year accounts

Communications Officer
This role is about you being the backbone of the organisation’s communications on a digital and offline level.
You will create lasting conversations and links with supporters, organisations and new people. Additionally you will aid and network with the extra campaigns and actions created by other climate activist organisations – thus growing the movement. It is sometimes technical, it is sometimes hard work. But it is very rewarding.
What will be expected of you?
- Maintain our Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and any other social media links on a daily basis.
- Generate status updates, images, video and other creative communication tools.
- Send out the monthly email newsletter to our supporters.
- Make sure the blog has regular contributors and key website pages are maintained.
- Collect data and strategise on how to improve our engagement, followed by implementing needed changes.
- Assist in the production of press releases and the growing of media and organisational links.
- Build relationships with other communication officers in the UKYCC (and within the coalition) to collectively work together to develop the UK Youth Climate Movement.
- Stay on message, using our values, aims and objectives.
Skills/Expertise
- An ability to write engaging content, that is suitable for all ages and aids the climate movement or the reader in taking action.
- Creative flair aiding in the production of communications.
- An ability to keep to a schedule and take note of what is happening within the UKYCC and the wider movement.
- Knowledge of HTML, CSS and website development is beneficial (can be taught)
- A love for social media.
Note: You will be expected to update our communications nearly every day. So being in a position to tweet often during 9am-5pm is key.

Fundraising Officer
We are currently recruiting for a Fundraising Officer role within the Operations team, the team, which is the glue that holds together everything we do.
If you a budding fundraiser, UKYCC needs you. This is an opportunity to really gain great experience and strong connections within the NGO/ charity world. It is a tough role and you will be supported by the whole team and by the Trustee’s so that you can gain or improve the needed skills and knowledge.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for maintaining an income for UKYCC’s core costs and supporting other projects.
- On hand to support teams when they are submitting a fundraising application for a project whilst also applying for grants and maintaining the fundraising database.
- Being creative in how we gain funds – from big money pots, to cake stalls and world records.
- UKYCC is 5 years old, and we hope this can be used as a way raising funds – from parties to anything else you can think of.
- The role will involve around 5 hours of work every week.

Content Developer
The Content Developer, develops content in regards to communication aspects, training or internal and external resources that will build the UK Youth Climate Movement. This role involves using bags of creativity and gaining new digital and project management skills along the way. You also connect with the the other UKYCC teams becoming an important asset to the wider climate movement.
What will be expected of you?
- Use design and creativity to create online and offline material for UKYCC. This can include using software like Photoshop or specific website programmes and the creation of PDF’s and leaflets etc.
- Maintain parts of the website. This includes aspects of coding, copywriting, design and development.
- Lead on maintaining Freelancer contacts and using their talents (graphic design, copywriting, campaigning, database management etc) for needed projects.
- Maintain and update our internal TeamSpace and look into making many of its resources useful for an external youth audience.
- Discusses with other teams/members what their need in order to develop, or boost a current project.
Skills/Knowledge:
- An ability to write engaging content, that is suitable for all ages and aids the climate movement or the reader in taking action.
- Creative flair aiding in the production of digital communications, workshops, training and toolkits.
- Knowledge of HTML, CSS and website development is beneficial (can be taught)
- Research skills
- An ability to create workable documents, tools and guides based online and offline.
- Prior knowledge of the UK an international climate movement is a bonus.

We are currently recruiting for an Internal Support role within the Operations team, the glue that holds together everything we do.
This is an excellent opportunity for anyone with strong organisational and people management skills to develop their talents. Following a year working with us, you will have demonstrated your abilities and this role would make a fantastic addition to a CV geared towards accounting, human resources or project management. And you would get to join a team of enthusiastic and friendly young people making a difference.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for managing volunteers and maintaining high morale within the teams.
- Helps to organise weekend meet-ups and socials.
- Manages recruitment of new members and the connected resources.
- On hand to manage/as a go-to person for the freelancers.
- Responsible for UKYCC’s internal organisation and evaluation.
- Responsible for collating and sending weekly email updates and the digest.
- Maintains the internal Operations section, including the volunteer database and contact details.
- The role will involve around 5 hours of work every week.
